All fire district residents - owners and renters - are invited to attend.
1. Learn
Practice using a chemical fire extinguisher. BMF volunteer responders will be sure you know how to safely and effectively operate your extinguishers using the P-A-S-S method. Walk-up training for most ages, from 10 until 2.
Maximize your wildfire mitigation efforts. Members of BMFPD's professional mitigation team address wildfire-related issues and best mitigation practices – plus news about some community grants to stretch your mitigation $$. Presentation + Q&A. NO registration required. 10 am to 11:30 in the community room, upstairs.
Attend Safe Mountain Living for Newcomers and Everyone. Meet Chief Benson and get a jump-start on your mountain safety savvy. Designed for those who have moved to the fire district in the last couple years, residents who have been around longer also find the refresher helpful. noon to 1:30 in the community room, upstairs
Learn how to live safely around bears, mountain lions, foxes and more. Browse among the taxidermied displays as volunteers from Boulder County Parks and Open Space and Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation share info on their habits and how to keep them safe. For all ages. 10 am to noon, in bay area, downstairs.
2. Check Your Carseat
BMFPD’s own certified child safety seat technician can inspect, install and fit your car seat. Appointments only.
3. Test and Recycle
Bring your existing fire extinguishers to have them tested by BMFPD volunteers; if they are dry, we’ll recycle them and help you select new ones.
4. Get Information
Information tables are chock full of current info on first aid, pet evacuation, mitigation and the Wildfire Partners program.
5. Buy New Home Safety Gear
Get reflective address kits, fire extinguishers, smoke and CO alarms, fire blankets and bleed control kits. BMFPD volunteers will help you evaluate your needs based on your home’s layout.
6. Get Your Kids Involved
Visit our kids table with fire safety related puzzles and more; tour a BMFPD engine with a volunteer firefighter.
